Weekend Preview #2

Things are certainly going to change in week #4 of Major League. There are 6 teams with only one win and 3 without a loss and they are facing each other this weekend.
Lets start with rivals and friends Van Der Stel and Helderberg Pirates – We could probably call this a derby between the two clubs and VDS had the edge last year. Having said that, if memory serves, Pirates did take 2 points from VDS last year, but only 2. This game promises to be a great game that will be played hard. it is our opinion that VdS should take this one.
Then a 2nd derby of the weekend Athlone and VOB go at each other and if last season is anything to go by, this is also going to be a real slugfest. VOB have scored 19 runs to Athlone’s 6. However Athlone have only allowed 23 to VOB 44. SO Athlone Pitching vs VOB Hitting. VOB did find form last week and they too have some pitchers that can make life tough for Athlone, so it is our opinion that the team that gets the ball into the field will take this one. Very young players in critical positions will make the difference as both teams have seasoned vets and both teams have young players. This is also going to be a real exciting match that both teams absolutely need to win.
The high flying Crusaders may come very unstuck against the power house, Bothasig. Bothasig have ticked all the boxes this year and will be very tough to beat. Having said that, Crusaders have some nice young players as well, and are scoring runs a plenty. Bothasig should take this one, but Crusaders are not going to roll over and donate the game to Bothasig.
Yankees play Durbanville and we could see two lefties going up against each other. Yankees dug out a win against VOB last week with hitting, pitching, fielding. We anticipate that this Yankees should have enough to take this one.
Maitland vs Bellville, If Maitland can stay in the game of even get ahead with Jaz on the hill, its going to be quite a game. Jaz however, will not have everything his own way with the real power of Bellville and that is with the bat. This is likely to be the real baseball festival of the weekend.
Enjoy the weekend folks.
